Visit of University of Massachusetts Civic initiative (SUSI – Study of US Institutes) Delegation at Institute of Administrative Sciences, University of the Punjab Lahore
Representatives of SUSI visited Institute of Administrative Sciences, University of the Punjab Lahore on 7th January 2019 to enhance the culture of acceptance, inclusion and global student exchange. Mr. Micheal Hannahan, Director of the UMass Civic Initiative, was accompanied by two exchange program students, Mr. Amir Habib Khattak – SUSI Alumni, Mr. Jehangir Khan– President of PUAN Quetta. Dean FEMS and Director IAS, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen welcomed the delegation and addressed the audience sharing the rich historical background of the University and the institute, the programs offered and the vision of semester exchange for students. The meeting was joined by 10 exchange program students from different departments of Punjab University under the SUSI, UGRAD, Kectil and few faculty members of the institute. Mr. Michael expressed his views about the semester exchange students from Pakistan and really appreciated the set of values and sense of acceptance they bring from their country. He shared a number of other programs under USEFP that students can opt for. An interactive networking session closed on presentation of institutional souvenirs to the delegates. Mr. Muhammad Zahid – senior faculty member at IAS highly appreciated the efforts of Mr. Tahir Khattak and Ms. Amna Siddique, IAS alumni for coordination of delegation’s visit to the institute. Punjab University has an increasing trend of semester exchange programs providing the students for broader international opportunities and giving them the credits of the semesters that they study in foreign university. IAS plans to organize more awareness sessions for its undergraduate students to provide information in finding and applying to such opportunities.
