The Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS), University of the Punjab, organized a seminar on “Public Policy, Policy Analysis & the Policy Cycle” on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, in Auditorium 2.
The session was delivered by Mr. Javed Akhtar Mahmood, a distinguished PAS officer with extensive secretarial and field experience in Punjab and Baluchistan, and currently Secretary to Government of the Punjab, Social Welfare and Baitul department.
Prof. Dr. Kashif Rathore, Director IAS, warmly welcomed the distinguished speaker and expressed gratitude for his valuable contribution to the ongoing policy debate at IAS. He pointed out that the practical issues and problems in public policy raised by the Secretary should be taken up as areas of formal research by MPA/Mphil and PhD students.
The seminar was well-attended by alumni, students and faculty members of IAS, followed by an engaging Q/A and interactive session, which provided valuable insights into the dynamics of public policy and governance.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Sidra Irfan. She opined that such insightful seminars by top bureaucratic leadership can serve as the most useful industry-academia linkage in the field of Public Administration. Dr Sidra Irfan concluded the seminar on a note of thanks to the Secretary, Mr Javed Akhtar Mahmood, and appreciation for Dr Sajid Nazir for planning & arranging the Seminar.
