In accordance with the month of Rabi-ul-Awal and its significance with respect to the greatest, noble and most respectable personality on earth, Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ, the Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) organized a Seerat-un Nabi Seminar on 30th November 2017 (11th Rabi-ul-Awal). As per student engagement drive of the Institute, a team of brilliant students planned the program under the guidance of faculty members; Ms. Umme-Farwah Mubasher and Mr. Zeeshan Hanif. Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen – Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences (FEMS) and Director Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS), faculty members including Dr. A.R. Jafri, Mr. Muhammad Zahid, Dr. Nighat Ansari, Dr. Ali Rehman, Ms. Rabia Nawaz, Ms. Noor Tariq and staff members joined for the seminar. The guest speakers for the session were Prof. Dr. Mazhar Moeen – Former Principal Oriental College PU and Prof. Dr. Khalida Amjad – adjunct faculty member IAS. Seminar was well organized and hosted by students of BS 7th semester – Durdana Sherazi and Shabeena Islam. Mr. Huzaifa-tur-Razzam (BS 3rd semester) was requested for Talawat-e-Quraan. Hamd-o-Sana was presented by Zamin Abbas (BS 5th semester) and Naat-e-Rasool was presented by Kiran Shahzadi (BS 7th semester). After presenting Darood-o-Salam to Muhammad ﷺ, guest speaker for the seminar Prof. Dr. Mazhar Moeen delivered a highly informative talk on the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for the inspiration of youth. In his captivating talk, Prof. Mazhar encapsulated the whole life of Prophet ﷺ from the birth to the time when he left for his final abode. While sharing the historic incidents of Prophet’s life, Prof. Dr. Mazhar shared with students and staff, the great lessons of life that we deduce from his kind deeds. Dr. Mazhar Moeen urged to have a separate section of books on Seerat-un-Nabi at IAS Library for students, faculty and staff to read and seek guidance.
Followed by the talk, two more students; Hafiz Muhammad Junaid and Ms. Khadija presented Naat-e-Rasool. Prof. Dr. Khalida Amjed also shared her thoughts on this auspicious occasion and strengthened the teachings shared by Prof. Mazhar earlier. On this event, a recording of Naat by IAS beloved graduate – Bilal Iqbal (late) was also shared with the audience. Bilal was a Naat-khuwan and had presented Naat at various events at IAS. Unfortunately, he met a tragic death in a road accident couple of months ago. His family members were specially invited to attend the event where the IAS family prayed for his forgiveness and blessings of Almighty upon him. To enhance the understanding on the life of Prophet (PBUH) the program included a quiz on various aspects of Seerat ul Nabi which was conducted by Usama Akber and Wajiha Najam (BS 7th semester). Students took keen interest in it through active participation and all the winners were awarded with books on Seerat-un-Nabi.
The closing note was presented by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen –Dean FEMS & Director IAS, with much gratitude for the guest speakers and also to the Bilal’s family members. She thanked Prof. Dr. Mazhar Moeen for sharing from his vast knowledge, a brief account of life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ especially for the youth and guiding them well in present context of the country & society. She emphasized on learning form the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which represented a mirror reflection of the Holy Quraan based on the highest morals. She said that our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) balanced both Ibadaa and good deeds for the betterment of humanity, including peace, forgiveness, tolerance and kindness. She thanked the organizing team, participants, faculty and staff members who later joined for a group photo on this memorable day followed by collective dua.
Later that afternoon, a farewell party was arranged for Ms. Qudsia Iftikhar – Faculty member at Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) who has recently been awarded with full scholarship to pursue for her Ph.D. at Monash University – Melbourne Australia. On behalf of IAS family, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen – Director IAS presented her a bouquet of flowers along with best wishes for her future endeavors.
