As per its tradition of paying tribute and honor to the worthy professors of the institute and to recognize their meritorious services, IAS yet again took an initiative to mark another historical day in the account of the institute. A ‘day of remembrance’ was celebrated where family of former chairperson of the Institute – Dr. Mujib A. Shiekh (late) was invited. Mrs. Mujib A. Shiekh and Ms. Samar Shiekh- daughter of Dr. Mujib A. Shiekh joined to attend this institutional ceremony. Dr. Mujib A. Shiekh served the institute in various tenures between the year 1972 till 1995. Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon – former Dean FEMS and former Director IAS, who is now teaching as a visiting faculty member at University of Houston, Texas, USA, was also invited to share the memories and to have an interaction with the faculty and staff. He has served the institute from 1999 – 2009. Afterwards he has long been associated with the institute as visiting faculty member.
Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen – Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences (FEMS) and Director IAS alongwith faculty members, welcomed the guests with great fervor. Other members present at the occasion were Professor Dr. A.R. Jafri – former chairperson and senior faculty member at IAS, Mr. Muhammad Zahid – Coordinator BS Program, Mr. Mubeen Khalid – Coordinator HRM Programs, Dr. Nighat Ansari – Coordinator MPhil Program, Dr. Yaamina Salman – Coordinator PhD Program, Dr. Kashif Rathore – Coordinator Evening Programs, Dr. Sidra Irfan – Coordinator MPA Program, and other faculty members including Dr. Amani Moazzam – Managing Editor GMR Journal, Dr. Ali Rehman, Ms. Madiha Waheed, Ms. Zahra Paul, Ms. Iman Saleem, Ms. Urooj Qamar, Ms. Umme-Farwah Mubasher, Mr. Zeeshan Hanif and Ms. Noor Tariq. Staff members including Mr. Shahzad Ahmad Siddiqui, Ms. Tashfeen Fatima, Ms. Rifat Umbreen Afzal, Mr. Malik Arif, Ms. Maria Aslam and Ms. Sameen Zaki also joined.
Dr. Nasira Jabeen shared her immense gratitude to the guests to take out time for revisiting the old times and the place where they have served. Dr. Jabeen shared in her welcome note about the progress of the institute in terms of number of programs being offered, the national and international academic and other contributions made by the institute and the state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities for students, staff and faculty. Ms. Zarine Aziz – former President, First Women’s Bank and alumnus of IAS, also joined where she shared her fond memories of student life spent under the guidance of Dr. Mujib A. Shiekh (late). Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon said that he still remembers Dr. Mujib’s words of wisdom and compassionate advice that he received as his student and as colleague in the later years. Mrs. Mujib A. Shiekh shared her delight on behalf of Dr. Mujib A. Shiekh (late) to see the progress and development of the institute and the love and respect given to the worthy professors, not only for their teaching contributions but also for the deep ownership with their students and the institute. Mr. Jamil Ahmad Khan – Senior Vice President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and alumnus of IAS was also present at the ceremony.
It was later shared that IAS has dedicated its Library & Information Resource Center in the name of Prof. Dr. Mujib A. Shiekh (late). A ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony was made by Mrs. Mujib A. Shiekh. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Prof. Jabeen. Ms. Maria Aslam – librarian at IAS, assisted the guests and faculty members for a visit to the library and its digitalized systems that have been developed to facilitate the visitors. Mrs. Mujib highly appreciated the recognition with great humbleness and prayed for the betterment of the institute at every step. In recognition of his untiring efforts towards the development of the institute, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon has at his credit with great ownership and deep commitment, the MPhil/PhD block of IAS was dedicated to his name. As a token of appreciation, he was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen. Dr. Jadoon shared his thoughts and great pleasure of seeing the growth of the institute and making remarkable contributions in the education sector of Pakistan. The inaugural sessions were followed by a cup of tea and refreshments for the guests and a memorable group photo.
