ANNUAL CURRICULUM REVIEW & EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS MEET UP
Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) organized a Curriculum Review exercise on December 21st 2018. The activity was organized as part of the pre-alumni reunion event which has been planned for 22nd December 2018. A large of professional and practitioners including the IAS alumni took part in this developmental activity. Courses offered at undergraduate & graduate programs of the institute were presented for revision by seeking input from practitioners. The foremost objective was to make the curriculum more relevant to the international standards and societal needs & requirements. In the beginning, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen, Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences and Director Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) welcomed all the distinguished guests and shared her vision about the curriculum review. She stressed on the need for revisiting curricula for state of the art practices, improved university-industry and academia-professionals linkages for better preparation of our youth to the international as well as cultural and societal needs. Professor Jabeen said that the effort would help updating curricula that would nourish leadership and initiative taking capabilities among learners and prepare them to find creative and innovative solutions to the complex challenges facing organizations today.
The activity was planned in ten clusters based on the disciplines. A healthy number of practitioners from the industry, civil and private sector, faculty members and student representatives joined for this activity. Professionals highly appreciated the initiative. They shared their feedback on the existing course outlines and provided recommendations in light of the market trends and industrial requirements. All the professionals look forward to conduct subsequent meetings after this initial review of curriculum to make this activity more fruitful for the institutionalization purpose as envisioned in the beginning. They also assured their input for such developmental activities in future.
