A highly informative and insightful learning session was organized at IAS by Office of Career Advisory & External Linkages (CAEL) and facilitated by Mr. Zahid Mubarik – CEO for HR Metrics Pakistan. HR Metrics is a partner from Pakistan for SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) – the world’s largest HR Professional society. Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen – Dean/Director and other faculty members including Dr. Kashif Rathore, Dr. Amjad, Mr. Arslan Qaiser, Mr. Gouhar Pirzada and Ms. Sameen Zaki – Manger CAEL joined for the session. Mr. Zahid Mubarik’s presentation focused on HR competencies, HR Metrics, significance and benefits of SHRM Certification by international professional body. He shared the significance of competency models and presented few sample questions for SHRM certification assessment. There is a pool of knowledge tools provided by SHRM to its certified members.
A large audience from executive degree programs attended and shared the HR industry practices and concerns. Some of IAS alumni also joined including Mr. Rana Imran – Manager OD at Samsons Group of Companies and Mr. Rameez Zarrar – HR Professional from Indus Hospital. Mr. Imran played a significant role in connecting IAS with SHRM Forum Pakistan for the introductory seminar. A note of thanks and token of appreciation was presented to Mr. Zahid Mubarik by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen alongwith other team members.
The session was followed by a meeting over a cup of tea where the university curriculum accreditation by SHRM, SHRM student forums and SHRM Certifications were discussed in light of the up -gradation of knowledge for faculty, students and alumni of the institute. Prof. Jabeen also shared with Mr. Zahid about the upcoming International conference on Governance, Management & HR hosted by IAS from 20th-21st March 2018 and invited him to share his knowledge at this forum by participating at a panel discussion on HR Practices.
Both IAS and SHRM forum Pakistan look forward towards a more concrete and strategic collaboration by bringing the additional advantage of the Professional society, having a global presence, to the doorstep of IAS.
